Illustration Friday!

This week I had a little bit of extra time so I decided to join my friends at illustrationfriday.com for this week's illustration topic: Swell. Illustration Friday is a website where illustrators submit their take on a topic each week just for fun.

When I first read the topic I thought of 1920's fashion- just swell! but I decided to go with my second thought (which is usually more creative)- a pregnant woman's feet, which are usually swollen. This illustration is what came of that thought and a few hours on a Sunday night. I know there's a lot more I could do with it, and I might return to the idea later, but it's not a bad start.

New Work!

Illustration is all about Narrative- What happened? What's happening? What's about to happen? These pieces focused on capitalizing on those questions to create intrigue and capture the viewer's attention to draw them into the story.

History of American Illustration Studies

This past semester I took a class on the History of American Illustration. Each week I chose an illustrator from the decade we were studying, wrote a paper about his career, studied one of his pieces of artwork, and presented my findings to my class. The following pieces are the studies I did of these famous illustrators.
